We already know what used stationary bikes are, thanks to our previous posts, but here we will see how our stationary bikes are standing against elliptical training machines.
At the beginning of 90’s elliptical was where rare and not many people and commercial gyms owned them. Main cardio training machine was stationary bike or real bike. However while time passed, used stationary bikes loosed their supremacy in favor of elliptical.
Anyway here are some of the positive and negative points for each of two types exercise machines.
Pros for used stationary bikes:
- easy of use (usage of used stationary bikes is self explanatory, everybody have in life at least some contact with regular bicycles so this is relatively similar for use)
- sitting position (on stationary bike user is sitting, this will cause time for getting tired be significantly larger then for training on elliptical which equals to more burned calories)
- resistance can be different for different person so no matter in what shape are you, you can still use stationary bike to fit your needs.
- stationary bikes are less expensive then elliptical
- stationary bikes use less space then elliptical
- more fitted to beginners and people not in shape
Cons for used stationary bikes:
- stationary bike riding in certain cases can cause impotence in means
- stationary bike does not provide complete workout
Pros for elliptical machine:
- elliptical machine provide complete workout (legs and arms are moving also)
Cons for elliptical machine:
- expensive
- larger then used stationary bikes so you need more space for them
- hard to do workout if you are not in good shape
